A LOCAL POLICY CHOICE · Housing approvals

The City should shorten and simplify the process for approving new homes.

This concerns the approval process. It does not mean approving every development or removing safety standards.

How this comparison works

This comparison currently uses published evidence. It covers 21 policy proposals and 3 past council decisions. We are collecting candidate responses to all 24 statements and will review identity, context and sources before adding them. Trustee matching is not available yet.

We manually interpret specific statements and recorded votes. We do not infer a position from party connections, occupation or silence. A past vote describes that decision, not necessarily a candidate’s current position. Conditional or unclear statements stay unscored.

Unknown is an evidence gap. It never counts as agreement or disagreement. Skipped questions are left out. A percentage appears only when at least three of your answers can be compared with a candidate.

Agreement = the weight of shared answers divided by the weight of all comparable answers. Each answer counts once; an important answer counts twice. Percentages are rounded. The bars show question counts, without weighting. Candidates can have very different amounts of available evidence, so compare the known and unknown counts alongside any percentage.

Candidates appear in this visit’s random order unless you change the sort. Every interpreted position has source links below. If the underlying research changes, its interpretation stops scoring until reviewed again.

Comparisons reviewed September 7, 2026. Draft minutes are labelled. This tool is independent of candidates, parties and election authorities.
